No.
Não só isso.
It is, also,
World Portuguese Language Day
~O Dia da Lingua Portuguesa~
and many other things as well
~ all detailed on this site:
Although let it be known, to all of you
NON-LUSOPHONES
that there is another day of the Portuguese Language:
June the 10th - because that is when
Luís de Camões passed away.
And there is also a Day of Portugal
and Day of Democracy in Portugal
and Day of Portuguese Culture ETC, ETC, ETC!
But back to TODAY:
In Canada,
where #ElbowsUp is
all the rage right now,
May the 5th
has become
National Red Dress Day
more officially known as
National Day of Awareness for
Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls
and 2SLGBTQIA+ People
The "2S" is indeed about
"Two Spirited" individuals...
The Indigenous
-if not quite ingenious-
way to explain the state of being
of the whole LGBTQIA (not AI) +
crowds, out there - proud...
not quite the same thing as
those various other occasions
that mark MAY THE FIFTH:
such as Hoagies Day...
Or
Or NAIL DAY...
(compatible, sure, but...)
And as if that's not frivolous enough -
there is, also, the national
(meaning: the USofA. As in "only in the USofA"
can they be so... ridiculous.)
And there's the
although I didn't hear of anyone staging a big one, on this date...
I didn't hear any note, even!
It appears as though they have done away with
the profoundly inane
for this date, at least -
however, upon closer inspection,
it applies to the FIRST FRIDAY OF MAY
which means it can easily fall upon a
May the 5th again, in the future...
No Pants Day is every day, really,
for some of us...
Just sayin'.
MAY THE 5TH
IS A LOT OF THINGS;
like every other day can be, sure...
From the original historical significance
(and the reason why we say "cinco" e
"Mayo" in Spanish in the first place)
to the plethora of causes
~each more tragic than the previous~
that are evoked on the exact same date:
There may be the odd
throw in there, too...
But it appears to fall well in line,
generally speaking, with
THE WEEK'S overall dedication:
RED CROSS WEEK
...as well as the month's stated focus;
MAY being
MENTAL HEALTH MONTH
among many, many other things...
DISCOVER 'EM ALL
ON
💖💔💖
And noooooooooooo -
ReplyDeleteI did not "forget" the inadequate alleged "revenge" of the 5th...!
It is simply more appropriate for the SIXTH!
SITH = SIXTH
DUH!!!
Say what you may, but Trekkies are, at least, more logical - they would have seen that, way sooner than, er, the "Warriors" there...?
THE LORD JESUS THE CHRIST WAITED THREE DAYS TO RESURRECT - AND YOU, NINNIES WITH LIGHTSABERS, CANNOT WAIT ONE DAY TO RESUME YOUR... NERD FEST, really!
COME ON!!!
THE SIXTH IS FOR THE SITH - END OF STORY!
AND BE THANKFUL FOR THAT !!!
I could have championed the fact that FIFTH appears perfect for... the FILTH that those "dark side lords" REALLY ARE...!!!
As it is, the SIXTH is even fitter for them - as they have much in common with the hounds of Hades - and 666!
Star Wars fans probably also think that I "forgot"...
ReplyDeleteNATIONAL ASTRONAUT DAY!
Nah - I just ignored it!
I have far greater respect for the MIDWIVES,
mentally challenged and CARTOONISTS
than I do for damned suicidal space cowboys!!!
And even organisers have seen the folly of this: they left the Astronaut there, along with the First Friday In May thing (again) going for NATIONAL SPACE DAY as if, in conjunction with the Sith stuff, it wasn't a bit (no - a LOT) too much on this date - detracting attention from much more important issues!?
WHY DON'T YOU SPACE THEM OUT, NASA NITWITS???
LOL
But yeah, sure -
it is Buzz Lightyear's day, too..

BAH!
